Same player, shoot again
≡ September 2025 ≡
And here we are again for a new season, riding our sonic unicorn, slaloming between air pockets and bouncing on resonating islets, keeping on target and getting lost at the same move.
No concert in September but things simmering, got them.
Starting with the recording of a new album in Radio France studio for Signature label.
This one will be the 85th of my motley discography (all collaborations combined), yet the 1st one which is at the same time solo, instrumental and with guitar only. I still do not know what it will look like, music will decide. With the vertigo pleasure feeling when every possible is open, I can’t wait to dive unto this unknown bath.
Among many other notes on the workbench, the ones for Laure Werckmann’s play, L’amour après based on Marceline Loridan-Ivens’ book, to be created early October at the Filature in Mulhouse. This play will close the tetralogy of the Héroines of metamorphosis , opened with ‘J’aime’ by Nane Beauregard and whose 3rd part, Croire aux fauves will play at the Manufacture in Nancy from 11 to 13 September.
On other stages, the inimitable Jean-Clone by Julien Mellano will be at the Charleville-Mézières Festival from 21 to 23, while the juicy Hôtel du Libre-Échange of Feydeau directed by Stanislas Nordey at the MC2 in Grenoble on the 26th.
And will you be near Caen, the preview of 8 Sekunden Jean-Marie Vinclair’s beautiful film whose score I composed, will be screened at the Café des Images and followed by a meeting with the director and your servant.
As it is well known that others talk better of it, and that it is quite rare to be so well listened to, I can not resist the urge to share with you two mirific columns of ‘Twoo’, the NO&RD album, written by some sharpened ears of the indie music press: Indiepoprock and Solenopole. If you did not have the opportunity to dance the Twist on its gritty top hits, the album can be listened to here and ordered there.
In order that you do not have your tickets snatched, I inform you six months in advance about the new creation I have been immersing myself in since Springtime: IN DAVID LYNCH’S EAR – A Blue Rose Experience, a musical chronological riding of the whole filmography of the maestro, from Eraserhead to Twin Peaks/The Return. The premiere will be on February 17, 2026 for the closing of the Travelling Festival at the TNB in Rennes. I’ll give you soon more details about this crazy and galvanizing undertaking.
And for a sweet and rising new start, I finish with a memory of our concert with Melaine Dalibert, amidst Saint-Eustache’s coolness for the 1st Summer day.
Olivier Mellano
