What a funny job #109

What a funny job

≡ May 2026 ≡

How hard-working is this Spring time, tenacious work, harnessed to deploy notes for the upcoming compositions, immersed into an unimaginable octet, into the veuze bagpipe, the nyckelharpa, the bombard, the theorbo, the accordion, the hurdy-gurdy, as well as the horns and the choirs.
When we think about it, what a funny job to organize the air vibrations one with another so that to activate some zones in brains scattered here and there, and among which some are right now reading this newsletter. What a beautiful strangeness.

Étienne Klein et Olivier Mellano au Grand Hôtel des Rêves 20 mai Paris (5e) And still other synapses will be invited at the ballet of thought with Étienne Klein, for another concert-conference in Paris on the 20th, during the intimate evenings of the Grand Hôtel des Rêves. As usual, we will improvise while sailing between the infinitely large and the infinitely small, but not between the two of them.

Mulholland Drive analysé par le musicien Olivier Mellano sur Ciné +Other words, other worlds. Will you fancy, you might hear me talking about music in Lynch’s movies, during the Forever Cinéma programme dedicated to ‘Mulholland Drive’ on Ciné+ OCS, on the sidelines of our Lynch musical crossing IN MY HEAD hat we will play on June the 12th at the Arsenal de Metz  and on December the 12th at the Salle Pleyel. Tickets are still on sale.

GLOYW vidéo : John's Blues (R. Boulard / J. Greaves / O. Mellano)How can we play Blues nowadays? With Gloyw, our bad boys power trio, we did not ask ourselves this question but we tried to give an answer with the John’s Blues track for which I have just fixed a lo-fi video as free as dishevelled that this savage blues.

L'Heure Bleue installation lumineuse et sonore (Paris 13e)Another kind of blue. To dive into the infinite blues of the sky sitting over the subway viaduct at Boulevard Vincent Auriol in Paris, you can now find, on the L’Heure Bleue website, the daily timetable of the setting up of the work, along with some musical extracts from my compositions that encircle the nocturnal swing every Friday and Saturday.

Another porous border, one between animal and human, with the Croire aux Fauves play adapted from Nastassja Martin’s book, staged and interpreted by Laure Werckmann and whose score I composed and to be performed on the 21st in Strasbourg.

To end with, I told you about the release of a new instrumental album: Gravity Lessons. It took long to be put into orbit but, here it is, the official release is announced for 5 June. I’ll meet you there with a streaming link in the next newsletter.

Herewith, I dive again in my ocean of notes and take care in organizing them so that they have a chance to make soon your brains shiver.
